I was a grunt with either the 2/3 or 3/7 originally started at FSB Mace. I don't have a list of the troops I was with. Just a couple of guys I met at 6th CC at Camh Rahn Bay like Bob Yogi Berra and Mel Uhlbeck. I was a "shake N bake" Sgt E-5.

I found this site in November of 2000 and I found some good friends with it. I was in thw field from April until about July 68, when I became Company Clerk. My best friend Bud Molzon was killed on May 30, 1968 when an American Helicopter dropped a rocket on our chow line. My thanks to Richard, Norm, Jerry, and the others who have opened their hearts and bared their souls to help others finally come back. You have touched many. .

After 32 years the memories are still so strong - What a blessing to find this site and know that what we did still means so much to so many. What I learned with you guys set the tone for the 25 years I spent in the Army trying to live up to the standards we were tought then. As Norm said it was both the best and worst of times and we were shaped forever. God Bless you all.

I am trying to locate all of my buddies, who are still alive, with whom I served with in Vietnam. I have contacted Jerry Burger and others so far, but I still have much work to do. I have a picture of a "Lynch", who I think was one of my closest buddies, but still don't know much about him. He is with Fordham, Reinhart, Ricter, and Pace. Also, I definately recognize many in the pictures, and remember Steve Genser very well. I have pictures and will share. Thanks to all of my buddies. I will be in contact soon. Richard

Great site Norm, many thanks for putting togeter the info that you have. My service was with A-4/12 for my entire tour. I recognized Brad Fordham from one of Rienhart's photos. Most of the men that I served with came in country about or soon after the time that I did. New faces new situations. I was a friend of Robert Gehel who was from Grand Rapids Mich. Also, I keep in touch with another Redcatcher friend from Pa., Rick Hean, who served approx. the same time that I did.

I enjoyed browsing through the site. Everyone in A-4-12 should be very proud of it...nice job! Last year, I was able to attend the Redcatcher Reunion in Washington. It had been 30-years since our group of A-5-12 had seen one another. It has been great re-establishing friendships and to have made new ones. If you have a chance to attend, you won't regret it.

I am honored beyond words to say that I am Jerry Burger's friend, the man to whom this site is dedicated. While I did not serve in the Viet Nam War, I am your age. That War, I have learned, presented some of the most severe tests and challenges ever. It required the finest courage and compassion in those who served, in order to meet these tests and challenges. I know that if I were ever to face the most severe conditions, I would pray for the companionship of Jerry Burger and the men he so profoundly respects as his brothers in country: Norm Price and the core group he has searched out. Gentlemen: I am grateful for the chance to provide this message of welcome and honor. May your fellow citizens increasingly understand your sacrifices and embrace you for what you have done.

"It was the best of times. It was the worst of times" (Charles Dickens). I learned more from the guys I served with in that year than all 22 years before & 32 years after. It defined my life. The best & worst of it. This site is dedicated to all of them, and all American servicemen (combatant & non, past & present). I love America!
